BYD UK has confirmed pricing and specifications for the SEALION 5 DM i, its ninth model for the UK market and a new entry point into its plug in hybrid line up. The mid size SUV will start from £29,995 on the road and is available to order now, with first retailer arrivals from 7 February.
Positioned to compete directly with petrol powered family SUVs, the SEALION 5 uses BYD’s DM i powertrain, combining a 1.5 litre petrol engine with an electric motor. Depending on specification, it offers a combined range of up to 631 miles and an electric only range of up to 53 miles.

Two trims are available. Comfort models feature automatic LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assistance and a 12.8 inch touchscreen as standard. Design versions add equipment including a 360 degree camera, heated front seats and wireless phone charging, priced at £32,995.
Steve Beattie, Deputy Country Manager of BYD UK, said, “The SEALION 5 strengthens the BYD line up by offering our most accessible entry point into DM i plug in hybrid technology to date.”
