The hybrid family SUV segment is hugely competitive with fleet buyers, and the Geely Monjaro is set to arrive in Europe soon - with a UK launch expected by 2027.
The Monjaro will rival plug-in hybrid SUVs including the Skoda Kodiaq, MG HS and Peugeot 5008, as well as other Chinese competitors such as the Jaecoo 8 and BYD Seal-U.
In China, the Monjaro is sold as the Geely Xingyue L in both plug-in hybrid and pure petrol form. The latter is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine from Volvo, though that unit isn't coming to European market models.
There's more Scandinavian-ness, too; underneath, the Monjaro shares the same platform as the Volvo XC40 and Polestar 2.

It'll receive a plug-in hybrid powertrain that powers both axles, giving the Monjaro all-wheel-drive (AWD). Specific details of the powertrain haven't been announced, but it's expected to use a similar unit to the existing Geely Starray EM-i - which houses a 1.5-litre petrol engine and electric motor with 260hp. Maximum EV-only range of that car is a claimed 81-miles.
Inside, the Monjaro is business as usual with a generous layout of screens teamed with a premium design to compliment it. There's three monitors along with a set of buttons and a even a conventional gear lever.
Pricing hasn't been announced, but we're expecting the Monjaro to start from just over the £40,000 mark, placing it within the region of competing cars. To gauge an idea of the segment, the Jaecoo 8 SHS-P starts from £45,500.

For fleets, the Geely Monjaro represents the Geely group making a name for itself on European shores. Prior, it had some degree of presence through brands such as Volvo, Smart, the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC), and even Mercedes-Benz. Now, the tide is beginning to turn as it and other Chinese marques are competing for fleet managers' order books.
