Black edition Hyundai Ioniq 9 added to line-up

Hyundai has revealed a black edition of its flagship Ioniq 9 SUV will join the model range, giving company car drivers a new stealth look option.

Called the Calligraphy Black Ink, it does away with the chrome and silver styling elements and replaces it with black trim. Notable changes include the black window surrounds, black 21-inch alloy wheels, black leather and darkened trim throughout the interior. Even the exterior Hyundai logo is now black.

The Calligraphy Black Ink sits above the existing Calligraphy as the new top trim line. Price? The Black Ink is a mighty £79,320 - nearly £4,000 more than the 'normal' Calligraphy (£75,795), and nearly £15,000 more than the entry-level Ioniq 9 Premium (£64,995).

Buyers can also choose to have the Black Ink painted in Pearl White, though the black trim and detail elements remain untouched.

Being the top trim, the Black Ink gets the top powertrain; being the Ioniq 9's dual-motor setup equipped with a 110kWh battery pack, which offers up to 372-miles of claimed WLTP driving range. 0-62mph takes 5.2 seconds and it can be configured in either a six or seven-seat layout.

For fleets, the Ioniq 9 has represented a great all-rounder for a boardroom-level company car. It covers all the luxury SUV strongholds while undercutting rivals, such as the Volvo EX90, on price. Now, company car drivers can opt for a striking new 'blacked-out' look, which has been popular in the premium SUV sector.
