Range Rover Sport Electric unveiled, starting from £109k

The next model in the fully-electric Range Rover lineup has been announced. Simply called the Range Rover Sport Electric – it starts from nearly £50,000 less than the equivalent full-size model.

The Range Rover Sport Electric will start from £109,810, whereas the larger Range Rover Electric has a mighty £154,000 price tag. That's a significant discount, and it means there's a less expensive option for top-level fleet buyers. 

It houses a dual-motor powertrain along with an 118.5kWh battery pack, churning out 542bhp. 0-62mph is dealt with in 4.5-seconds and maximum driving range is 374-miles (WLTP). When hooked up to a powerful 350kW charger, JLR claims it can recharge from 10-80% in 22-minutes. 

It also comes with all-wheel steering as standard, with the EV's rear wheels turning by up to 7.3-degrees, designed to help with sharper handling and urban manoeuvrability. 

As for trim levels, the Sport will be offered with the entry-level Dynamic SE (£109k), followed by the Autobiography (£122,780), before topping with the First Edition (£126,290). An even more entry-level variant with 450bhp has been developed, but won't be offered in the UK straight away. 

Like the full-size electric Range Rover, it's been deliberately designed to be as subtle as possible, thus retaining all the qualities that existing customers know and love – it's just that the powertrain is completely silent. 

For fleets, there have been a few EV SUVs designed to rival the Range Rover lineup. However, JLR now has two flagship models fully electrified, which has widened the choice for boardroom level company car drivers.
