Hyundai Ioniq 3 eligible for £3,750 Electric Car Grant, now starts from £18,495

The Hyundai Ioniq 3 is now eligible for the UK Government's Band 1 Electric Car Grant, giving buyers a £3,750 discount. This means the new supermini now starts from a highly competitive £18,495.

The Ioniq 3 was initially available with Hyundai's own £1,500 saving, but this has now been upgraded to a full government grant. The savings apply to all variants from the entry-level 42kWh to the top-spec 61kWh models.

To make things sweeter, Hyundai also said the grant applies to existing reservation holders, meaning they get an even larger discount than originally anticipated.

The Ioniq 3 joins the Kona Electric as the second model in the brand's EV lineup to receive the full grant. Cars are set to arrive across the retiailer network during October.

As for specs, the Ioniq 3 offers up to 308-miles of range (WLTP) as well as rapid DC charging, a large 441-litre boot and an infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS.

For fleets, the sheer value proposition and driving capabilities of the Ioniq 3 represent a tempting urban commuter that's priced to be competitive against the likes of the Renault 5 and some Chinese offerings such as the BYD Dolphin Surf. Its driving range and practicality could also make it one of the best-value EVs for all-round usability.
