Volkswagen ID. Tiguan previewed ahead of October reveal

The Volkswagen ID. Tiguan is being added to the brand's all-electric lineup, with the new model set to arrive in UK and European markets in early 2027.

The ID. Tiguan will replace the ID.4 and ID.5 models and will be positioned alongside the existing Tiguan, which will continue to be offered with petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains.

In terms of design, preview images are hinting a rounded, conservative shape bearing a reminiscence to the existing ID.4 and ID.5. It still has traditional, high-riding SUV proportions teamed with curvy, aerodynamic details.  

The ID. Tiguan forms part of Volkswagen’s strategy of retaining established names as it transitions to electric vehicles. It follows the forthcoming ID. Polo and ID. Cross, and an ID. Golf expected in the next few years.

With more than 8.3-million vehicles produced to date. It is currently the brand’s best-selling model worldwide, while the Tiguan and its sister model, the Tayron, collectively generated more than one million deliveries over the past year.

In addition, the Volkswagen ID.4 and ID.5 have also passed 950,000 deliveries since their launch in 2021, highlighting a popularity for Volkswagen's electric SUVs.

The ID. Tiguan will be fully revealed in early October, with final powertrain and UK specification details to follow.
