Which EV topped Octopus’ Q3 ranking and what to look out for in Q4?

The OMODA E5 has held onto its crown as the UK’s most popular electric vehicle for the third consecutive quarter, according to new data from Octopus Electric Vehicles.

In its Q3 2025 rankings, Octopus named the Mercedes EQB, Volkswagen ID.3, Tesla Model Y, and Renault 5 among the top five, signalling strong competition from European brands that blend value, range and design.

The Renault 5’s surge in demand follows its qualification for the Government’s Electric Car Grant, boosting affordability and helping drive record uptake. Battery-electric vehicles made up 23.2% of new UK registrations in September, with nearly 70,000 units sold.

Alvin Castillo, procurement director at Octopus EV, said: “The UK is quickly becoming a beacon on the global EV stage. Buyers now have more choice, better tech, and genuine value across all segments.”

Emerging models to watch in Q4 include the JAECOO J5 EV, Geely EX5, and Nissan Micra EV.
