Smart #2 revealed, offering fleets an ultra-compact city runaround

Smart has unveiled its all-electric #2 two-seater at the Paris Motor Show, reviving the iconic urban car 30 years after the original concept was first revealed in the French capital.

Measuring just 2.75m long, the new #2 is designed for urban driving, boasting a 6.95-metre turning circle and a compact footprint aimed for easy parking and manoeuvring.

Built on a new Electric Compact Architecture (ECA) platform, the rear-wheel-drive model features a rear-mounted 60kW electric motor teamed with a 35.8kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The brand is targeting a range of up to 180-miles (WLTP).

The car supports DC fast charging at up to 65kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in a targeted 20-minutes. It also features 11kW AC charging capability and vehicle-to-load technology.

Smart has equipped the #2 with a five-link rear suspension, described as a first in its class, while its Tridion Cell Evo safety structure and standard driver assistance systems are designed to deliver protection in a compact package.

As for trim levels, it will be offered Pure and Premium trim levels, alongside a limited Couture Edition, restricted to 999 units across Europe.

Full UK pricing is due later this year, though it's expected to start below £20,000. Pre-orders are scheduled to open in spring 2027.
