Chery to add Lepas brand to UK line-up as fourth marque targets growth

Chery has confirmed it will launch its new Lepas brand in the UK later this year, expanding a rapidly growing portfolio that already includes Omoda and Jaecoo. The move underlines Chery’s ambition to secure a long-term foothold in the UK market, particularly in electrified and hybrid segments.

Lepas has been developed specifically for Europe and will focus on so-called ‘new energy vehicles’, covering both plug-in hybrid and fully electric models. The first UK details are expected shortly, but the L4 and L6 crossovers are widely tipped to lead the rollout, offering petrol, PHEV and EV powertrains. Both sit on Chery’s T1X platform, shared with the Omoda 5 and Jaecoo 5 and 7.

Chery acknowledges the risk of overlap between its brands but says shared platforms help keep costs competitive. “By offering different brands on the same platform, the volume is very big and that gives us a good price,” said Zhang Guibing, president of Chery International.

In 2025, Chery’s UK brands captured a combined 2.65% market share, already ahead of Mini and Tesla. The arrival of Lepas could push the group closer to established volume players such as Renault, Skoda and Kia, increasing choice and price competition in key fleet segments.
