UK Government promises fleet van support

The Government has undertaken to work with the fleet industry, in an effort to support businesses’ transitions to electric vans.

The minister for the future of roads at the Department for Transport, Lilian Greenwood MP, acknowledged this week that more must be done to encourage the move to van electrification, including improved access to work-based and on-the-road charging networks.

Greenwood did not, however, reveal a timeline for when legislation around operating electric vans up to 4.25 tonnes would change. There was also no clarity on whether the plug-in-van grant would be extended beyond next year.
