Artificial Intelligence (AI) is set to reshape the future of fleet management, streamlining complex tasks and accelerating reporting. So says Geotab UK’s Aaron Jarvis speaking to Fleet News, “Opportunities are huge," he adds, "and fleet will be changed completely”.
Geotab has already incorporated Large Language Model (LLM) technology into its telematics system, enabling managers to interact using natural language. “For example, they could ask who is my riskiest driver, or which 10 vehicles are most likely to break down, and the system will tell you the answer,” Jarvis explained.
The platform can also bring together third-party data from sources like leasing, rental and fuel card providers, delivering clearer insights. “Fleets are starting to use it, but it will constantly change and rapidly evolve,” he added.
Jarvis predicts that dashboards will soon be replaced by conversation-based interfaces. “In the long-term, you won’t need to ask the question; the system will do the work for you.”
Geotab is sharing anonymised data between similar fleets to improve best practice, and in the UK has pinpointed key segments such as transport & logistics, utilities, field services and private ambulances. Mixed fleets often receive fragmented data from various manufacturers, and Geotab aims to bring coherence through its integrated solutions.
