Suzuki e-Sky revealed: electric Kei car coming to UK in 2027

Fleets shopping for city-friendly electric vehicles (EVs) have a good choice at the moment, and the Suzuki e-Sky promises to be a competitive challenger starting from under £20,000.

The Suzuki e-Sky is a Kei car; a classification of Japanese vehicle that's hyper-limited in both dimensions and engine capacity to cater for tight, narrow city streets. 

The e-Sky will rival cars such as the Honda Super-N, the Hyundai Inster, and the Renault Twingo as a small, simple and affordable EV. Adhering to current Kei car regulations, it measures just 3.4m long, 1.47m wide, and 1.6m in height. 

Powertrain and technical details haven't been announced, Kei car regulations limit EV power output to 63hp. The e-Sky is reported to house a tiny 26kWh battery pack with a claimed 192-mile range. This would pitch the e-Sky ahead of the Super-N (128-miles) and the Twingo (max 163-miles).

Inside, Suzuki has kept the e-Sky ultra-simple while offering up-to-date tech. There's minimal controls on the dashboard and a small central infotainment screen displays the basic features, such as climate and vehicle settings. 

The e-Sky is set to land on UK shores in Spring 2027 and will be Suzuki's second EV in Britain following the e-Vitara. Fleets shopping for easy-to-park city cars with low Benefit in Kind tax might want to give this Kei car a closer look once it arrives.
