Third model qualifies for maximum Electric Car Grant

Citroën’s new e-C5 Aircross Long Range has become only the third model in the UK to qualify for the maximum £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG), cutting its starting price to £32,935.

The 421-mile EV now undercuts rivals by a wide margin, coming in nearly £16,000 cheaper than a Tesla Model Y Long Range, despite offering 34 more miles of range per charge. Powered by a 97kWh battery and a 227bhp front-mounted e-motor, the SUV supports 160kW rapid charging, allowing a 10–80% boost in around 30 minutes.

The e-C5 Aircross Long Range joins the entry-level Comfort Range (322-mile variant), which already benefits from a smaller £1,500 grant. The Long Range model’s eligibility is thought to stem from its France-built battery cells, satisfying stricter localisation criteria under the new grant scheme.

Available in You, Plus, and Max trims, all versions include Advanced Comfort suspension, 19-inch alloys, a 13-inch central touchscreen, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add premium fabrics, heated seats, and semi-autonomous driving via Drive Assist Pack 2.0.

With prices now dipping under the £33k threshold, Citroën’s latest EV gives fleets and family buyers an affordable route into 400+ mile electric driving and one of the most generous grant-backed savings on the market.
