Toyota’s electric-van growth shows established LCV brands are gaining momentum

Three Toyota vehicles in a row outside.

Toyota’s latest European sales results show electric commercial vehicles gaining ground alongside its rapidly expanding passenger-EV business.

Toyota Motor Europe sold 104,832 BEVs in the first nine months of 2026, up 136% year on year.

Within Toyota Professional, all-electric Proace sales rose 25%, Proace City BEV volumes increased 27%, while Proace Max BEV sales jumped 149% to 3379 vehicles.

For fleets, that commercial-vehicle growth is arguably more interesting than the passenger-car headline.

Electric vans moving through established dealer and servicing networks can help reduce some of the uncertainty around aftersales, maintenance and operational support.

It also demonstrates that eLCV adoption is broadening beyond specialist launches and early adopters.

Fleet managers should still base replacement decisions on payload, route profile and charging availability rather than market momentum alone.

But greater volume gives operators more real-world evidence on which to base those decisions.
