Movement Software has acquired UK fleet-maintenance specialist Freeway Fleet Systems, bringing another established fleet platform into a wider transport-technology group.
Freeway’s software covers maintenance scheduling, defect management, workshops and suppliers, parts and stores, purchasing, fuel data and cost analysis.
For existing fleet customers, the acquisition is worth watching because ownership changes can eventually affect platform development, integration and support.
The immediate message should not be that customers need to change systems.
Instead, fleet managers should use acquisitions like this as a trigger to ask practical questions.
What is the future product roadmap? Will integrations change? Is pricing likely to move? Will existing support teams remain in place? And could new functionality become available through the wider group?
Fleet software is consolidating as providers try to offer broader connected platforms rather than isolated tools.
That can create opportunities, but it also makes supplier due diligence increasingly important.
