Mobile battery charging could keep EV plans moving through grid delays

Fleet electrification projects do not always stall because the vehicles are unsuitable. Increasingly, the delay is the infrastructure behind them.

Ayvens has partnered with Fellten to give UK fleet customers access to the Charge Qube, a mobile battery energy storage system with integrated high-power EV charging.

The unit stores electricity from a site’s existing supply and can then deliver rapid DC charging to vehicles, allowing fleets to add charging capacity without waiting for a permanent grid upgrade.

For fleets, that creates a potentially useful bridge.

A business may have vehicles ready to electrify but face a long wait for a new grid connection or substation upgrade.

Mobile energy storage can provide interim charging capacity without forcing the vehicle programme to stop entirely.

It will not replace a permanent high-capacity connection in every application, but it gives managers another option when infrastructure timescales and vehicle replacement cycles do not line up.
