Kia’s first purpose-built electric van, the PV5 Cargo, has entered the record books after covering 430.8 miles (693.3km) on a single charge — a new Guinness World Record for an electric light commercial vehicle carrying its full payload.
The achievement took place on 30 September under real-world conditions north of Frankfurt, Germany. The PV5 completed 12 loops of a 36.1-mile (58.2km) mixed urban and extra-urban route, negotiating traffic lights, junctions, and a 370-metre elevation gain, while loaded to capacity.
“Kia may be new to the LCV market, but this record proves the strength and adaptability behind our first PBV,” said Marc Hedrich, president and CEO of Kia Europe. “The fact that many operators could work for nearly two full days on one charge shows just how capable the PV5 really is.”
The Kia PV5 will arrive in the UK in late 2025, with pre-orders for Cargo and Passenger variants already open as of 1 May 2025. Deliveries are expected before the end of the year, with test drives available from authorised dealers in the final quarter. Multiple configurations — Cargo, Crew, and Passenger — will be offered, with the Cargo model starting at £27,645, positioning it as a competitively priced entry point into the electric van market.
