Volkswagen Commercial has released an improved version of its entry-level ID. Buzz Cargo with an extra 17 miles of driving range, now totalling 218 miles (WLTP).
This is thanks to a new 58kWh battery pack which replaces the outgoing 59kWh one. VW says 'efficiency improvements' in the battery cells is why the smaller pack extracts more range and power.
Fleets will also welcome the more affordable price point of the base model ID. Buzz, with the new 58kWh van starting at over £5,000 less than the outgoing model at £29,995, excluding VAT. Additionally, the 58kWh variant qualifies for the £5,000 Plug-in Van Grant (PiVG), which places the ID. Buzz in a competitive position for electric vans.

The infotainment system has also been updated with VW's ID. 6.0 software, which includes its very own app store where drivers can access parking and charging services when needed.
For fleets, the electric van segment is continuously developing. With new and popular models such as the Ford E-Transit Custom and Kia PV5 Cargo making up ground, the new and improved ID. Buzz represents a more competitive stance from VW for businesses' fleets and mobile services.
