Renault ups driving range on Megane and Scenic E-Tech, both eligible for £3,750 government grant

Renault has revamped its Megane E-Tech electric and Scenic E-Tech models with more driving range, subtle tweaks and some new battery packs. Both models also qualify for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant (ECG).

The new Megane E-Tech electric is priced from £28,245 after the grant, while the larger Scenic starts at £33,245. This means a version of every fully electric passenger car currently in Renault’s UK lineup qualifies for the maximum grant.

As for specs, the Megane is now offered in two versions – Techno and Esprit Alpine – both using a 220hp electric motor and new 67kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The Techno offers up to 306-miles of range (WLTP) and, when hooked up to a 165kW DC rapid charger, allows a 15–80% charge in around 24-minutes.

The Megane’s standard equipment has been upped, to;, adding features including driver recognition, a ventilated wireless smartphone charger, Google Gemini and enhanced driver assistance tech.

Meanwhile, the Scenic gains a new 89kWh Nickel, Manganese, and Cobalt (NMC) battery, which ups the range as much as 392-miles in Techno trim – that's 11-miles more than the outgoing model.

DC charging is rated at up to 150kW, meaning an 15–80% charge can take as little as 28-minutes. The Scenic range comprises Techno, Techno Esprit Alpine and Iconic Esprit Alpine. They are priced from £33,245 up to £38,245 after the grant.

Both models also gain subtle design tweaks, new colour options which include Satin Slate Blue and Exo Galaxy Grey. There's even a range of new 19 and 20-inch alloy wheels to choose from with the Scenic.

For fleets, Renault has positioning its updated EV models with the aim of faster charging and increased driving range for longer journeys - all while remaining competitive against rivals, especially with the Band 1 grant attached.
