Nissan Pixo unveiled as affordable electric city car

Nissan has unveiled the new Pixo, a compact electric city car that's twinned with the upcoming Renault Twingo and Dacia Spring. It arrives in the UK in 2027.

The Pixo offers a claimed 161-mile WLTP range from its 27.5kWh LFP battery, with 50kW DC rapid charging capability as standard across the range. According to Nissan, that means the battery can charge from 15% to 80% in around 28-minutes.

At just under 3.8m long, the Pixo is designed for use in urban environments, which is helped by its 9.9m turning circle. Despite its compact dimensions, Nissan claims a class-leading 356-litre boot, rising to 1,221-litres with the rear seats folded, so it's practical as well.

Inside, the Pixo is a similar affair to its Twingo twin; it's equipped with Google built-in, Gemini voice assistance, Face ID and connected services included. This tech is contained within 10-inch infotainment touchscreen and seven-inch driver display.

The Pixo also comes with a range of driver assistance systems as standard, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and hands-free parking - the latter is notable in a car of this price point as the technology was previously reserved for more expensive vehicles.

It will be manufactured by Renault at its Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia. Nissan hasn't announced pricing or UK specifications, but we are expecting the Pixo to cost under £20,000 and to qualify for the Government's Electric Car Grant (ECG).
