Chinese manufacturer, Xiaomi Auto has announced its new Skynomad N70 and N90 models to give established luxury SUV manufacturers new competition.
The N70 and N90 are the same cars, yet differ simply from the amount of seats they have; with the former being equipped with two rows, and three for the latter. The N90 is also longer at 5.280mm compared to the N70’s 4.960mm, which is in-line with the current Range Rover.
Climbing inside, Xiaomi has taken a minimalist approach to the design, offering a suite of luxury materials along with a 16.1-inch infotainment screen along with the 8.8-inch driver’s cockpit display. Rear passengers in the second row are also treated to a fold-down 21-inch display for added indulgence.
Unlike existing Xiaomi models, this full-size SUV isn’t fully electric. Instead, a 1.5 litre range extender petrol engine aids either a single or dual-motor powertrain mated to a 76kWh battery pack.

Electric-only range is a claimed 313-miles on China’s China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). With the engine fired up, fuel economy is claimed be around 45mpg average.
While not available yet for UK fleets to order, the N70 and N90, along with the Zeekr 9X, represent what’s coming; a vast armada of Chinese manufacturers offering high-tech, powerful, luxuriously-appointed cars with the potential to undercut models such as the Range Rover, BMW X7, and Audi Q9 on price.
Xiaomi itself has already proven to be capable with the SU7 saloon – a Porsche Taycan challenger – which starts from the equivalent of just £24,000 in China, demonstrating just how competitive the Chinese manufacturers are getting.
