Meet the Genesis GV90 - full-size electric SUV fights Range Rover

Fleets considering full-size luxury SUVs have a new challenger alongside the likes of Range Rover, Audi, or Mercedes-Benz. The fully-electric Genesis GV90 is large and unashamedly plush.

The GV90 is based on the same platform and architecture as the Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9. It's 5.3-metres in length - more than a LWB Range Rover - and is set to be the largest electric vehicle on sale in Europe when it arrives in 2027.

It houses a 123.5kWh battery pack which power a pair of electric motors. There's 648hp on tap and a claimed driving range of 311-miles. When hooked up to a 350kW ultra rapid charger, Genesis says it can charge from 10-80% in a mere 22-minutes.

The GV90 is also equipped with rear-wheel steering as standard and has a limited slip differential on each motor. Genesis says this helps with cornering agility as well as control on rough and slippery surfaces.

Inside, the GV90 is a boardroom suite of tech and luxury. A huge 24.6-inch infotainment screen dominates the dashboard, coupled with an equally-large heads-up display. But the most impressive feature is the swiveling seats; the front row can be rotated 180-degrees to form an in-car meeting room. That will only be available in the top-of-the-range Neolun trim.

As for sound? A 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen setup is built-in which, according to Genesis, can replicate the acoustics of a venue hall. If that wasn't opulent enough, materials such as wood flooring, cashmere wool and genuine stone have been used throughout the interior.

For fleets, the GV90 represents a true luxury flagship of the large SUV segment with the added benefit of low Benefit in Kind (BiK) tax, due to it being fully electric. Furthermore, it represents Genesis - and the Hyundai group - putting up a firm fight against established European marques and the ever-coming Chinese ones, too.
