13 New Models Join UK’s £1,500 Electric Car Discount Scheme

Motorists across the UK now have a wider choice of discounted electric vehicles, with 13 new models from Nissan, Renault and Vauxhall added to the Government’s flagship Electric Car Grant (ECG) scheme. The update follows the inclusion of four Citroën models earlier in the week, bringing the total number of newly eligible vehicles to 17. Buyers of qualifying models will benefit from a £1,500 discount automatically applied at the point of purchase, with the initiative targeting EVs priced at £37,000 or below to support the most affordable options.

The latest update takes the total number of newly eligible models this week to 17, under the Government’s £650 million programme to make electric vehicle ownership more affordable and accessible. Designed to ease the financial barrier to EV adoption, the scheme delivers direct savings to motorists while supporting UK manufacturing, safeguarding jobs, and driving progress towards the nation’s zero-emission transport goals under the Plan for Change. According to the Department for Transport, further additions are expected in the coming weeks as manufacturers’ applications are reviewed against the scheme’s strict sustainability criteria.

Customers will see the discount automatically applied at the point of sale, with no additional paperwork.
