ADAS cuts incidents for 45% of UK van drivers

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems are delivering measurable safety benefits for light commercial fleets, according to new research from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

A survey of 1,000 UK van drivers found that 45% avoided at least one accident in 2025 due to safety assist technology, while 19% said they had prevented multiple incidents. Parking sensors were cited as the most effective feature, preventing accidents for 58% of respondents. Collision warning followed at 40%, then park assist at 32% and speed assistance at 27%. Lane assist at 23%, autonomous emergency braking at 22% and driver drowsiness monitoring at 15% were also credited.

With van drivers spending an average 5.5 hours per day behind the wheel, 74% said ADAS makes them feel safer.
