Changan launches Deepal S05 electric SUV in the UK with up to 303-mile range

Changan Automobile has opened UK orders for the Deepal S05, a new electric SUV positioned for fleet and company car drivers seeking long range and rapid charging at a competitive price point.

Starting from £37,990, the S05 sits below the brand’s larger Deepal S07 and targets the fast-growing mid-size electric SUV segment.

Both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants use a 68.8kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The RWD model produces 200kW and 290Nm, delivering up to 303 miles of WLTP range and 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds. The AWD version increases output to 320kW and 502Nm, reducing the sprint time to 5.5 seconds, with range rated at 278 miles.

The vehicle supports 200kW DC rapid charging, allowing a 30-80% charge in around 15 minutes, alongside 11kW AC charging for workplace or depot use. A vehicle-to-load function can also supply up to 6kW of external power for tools or equipment.

With a 492-litre boot, additional 159-litre front storage, and a seven-year / 100,000-mile warranty, the S05 enters a competitive segment alongside models such as the Volvo EX30 and Kia EV3.
