The Xpeng G6 coupe SUV, is the first model from the Chinese EV maker to arrive in the UK. It’s available in two rear-wheel-drive variants: the standard range, offering 270 miles, priced at £39,990, and the long range, with 342 miles, priced at £44,990.
This first model is available to order from UK importer International Motors, which is promising to bring ‘ultra smart’ technology to the mass market.
Both models claim a rapid charging time of 10-80% in 20 minutes using 280kW chargers…and both have a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
A total of 29 sensors, including high-definition wave and ultrasonic radars and cameras, connect to ultra-fast computer chips for seamless ADAS (Advance Driver Assistance System) interaction.
“It works with you, not against you,” says Xpeng’s UK Group Product Manager, Edvards Mecbergs, who clearly feels that some of Xpeng’s competition’s systems are too aggressive. Remarkably, the maximum detection distance for the system is 210 metres.

Integrating the battery into the G6’s floor increases internal space by 5% and reduces weight by 21%. Further weight savings of 17% have been achieved by using die-cast underbody sections at the front and rear. Both measures contribute to improved real-world efficiency.
The list of standard equipment is extensive, including parking assist, dual wireless charging ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated rear seats, a panoramic glass sunroof, electric-release door opening, and electric front seats. The only optional extras appear to be three non-standard colours, available for £700.
The battery warranty is eight years or 100,000 miles, while the vehicle warranty covers five years or 100,000 miles.
