Clocking risk: UK’s most affected fleet models revealed

Mileage fraud remains a live risk for fleets buying in the used market, with new data from CarVertical highlighting the models most frequently “clocked”.

The Nissan Qashqai tops the 2025 list, with 9.7% of checked vehicles showing signs of mileage rollback and an average reduction of 15,490 miles.

Top 5 most clocked models in 2025

Nissan Qashqai – 9.7% | 15,490 miles average rollback

Volvo XC60 – 8.4% | 21,192 miles

Volvo XC90 – 7.2% | 15,936 miles

Nissan Juke – 7.2% | 16,159 miles

Porsche 911 – 6.9% | 22,597 miles

The largest average rollback was recorded on the Land Rover Defender, at 59,201 miles.

Matas Buzelis, motoring expert at CarVertical, said: “When a model is popular and widely available, buyers may feel pressure to act fast, which can reduce the amount of scrutiny carried out.”

For fleet managers sourcing defleet or grey market vehicles, consistent mileage history checks remain essential to protect residual values and maintenance forecasts.
