Honda launches tiny £18,995 Super-N as affordable EV battle intensifies

Honda has launched the new Super-N, a compact electric city car that joins a growing wave of sub-£20,000 EVs arriving in the UK market.

Priced from £18,995, the Super-N is Honda's smallest electric vehicle and marks the brand's latest effort to establish a stronger position in the increasingly competitive entry-level EV sector.

Measuring just 3.6 metres long, the Super-N is based on Honda's Japanese kei car platform but has been adapted for European buyers. Despite its compact dimensions, Honda has prioritised practicality, with its flexible Magic Seat system allowing the rear seats to fold flat or flip upwards to create additional load space.

Power comes from a 29.6kWh battery offering up to 128 miles of WLTP range, with Honda claiming almost 200 miles is achievable in urban driving. The lightweight 1,097kg EV supports 50kW rapid charging, allowing a 10-80% charge in around 30 minutes.

For fleets operating in urban environments, local authority services or short-distance business travel, the Super-N offers an affordable electric option at a time when many manufacturers are moving away from smaller, lower-cost vehicles.

Standard specification is generous, including heated seats, a heated steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, wireless smartphone connectivity and a Bose audio system.

The Super-N arrives as competition intensifies in the affordable EV segment, joining rivals such as the Renault Twingo, Fiat Grande Panda Electric and Citroën ë-C3 in the race to make electric motoring accessible to more drivers.
