Mitsubishi L200 returns to the UK with diesel power and 3.5-tonne towing capability

The Mitsubishi L200 is back.

After a six-year absence from UK showrooms, Mitsubishi has reopened order books for the seventh-generation pick-up, marking the first step in the brand's wider return to the UK market.

For fleets, farmers and tradespeople, the headline is continuity rather than reinvention. The new L200 retains the rugged, work-focused character that made previous generations a fleet favourite, while adding a stronger chassis, upgraded technology and improved refinement.

All versions use a new 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel engine producing 204PS and 470Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive as standard. Towing capacity remains a crucial 3.5 tonnes, while payload exceeds 1,000kg.

The new model is larger than its predecessor and sits on a stiffer ladder-frame chassis designed to improve load carrying and ride comfort. Commercial variants feature a dedicated two-seat conversion with a secure rear load area, allowing operators to benefit from commercial vehicle taxation, including a flat Benefit-in-Kind rate.

Two trim levels are available. Even entry-level Titan models include a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control and a nine-inch touchscreen, while Barbarian versions add leather trim, heated seats and Mitsubishi's advanced Super Select four-wheel-drive system.

Prices start from £37,495 (CV OTR) for commercial versions. Mitsubishi is clearly betting that plenty of former L200 owners are ready to welcome an old favourite back into service.
