Volvo updates EX30 with entry-level EV powertrain and energy-sharing capability

Volvo Cars has introduced a series of upgrades to its Volvo EX30, including a new entry-level powertrain expected to significantly reduce the model’s starting price from the current £33,060.

The new variant pairs a 110kW (150PS) motor with a 51kWh battery, delivering up to 211 miles of WLTP range. For company car drivers covering longer distances, a larger 69kWh battery option remains available, offering up to 296 miles of range.

For fleets, the lower entry price and new powertrain could make the EX30 a more accessible option for urban and commuter-focused company car schemes.

The update also prepares the vehicle for Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the battery to power external equipment such as electric bikes, tools or other appliances via an adapter, a feature that could prove useful for mobile workers or outdoor applications.

Volvo is also introducing a redesigned user interface and additional interior trim options made from recycled materials, while several improvements will be rolled out to existing drivers via over-the-air software updates.
