Nissan is reviving its much-loved Micra as a fully-electric supermini, set to go on sale across Europe later this year. The new Micra blends retro-inspired styling with modern EV tech and will be offered with two battery options: a 40kWh version delivering a range of 192 miles, and a 52kWh option offering up to 253 miles.
The smaller battery variant produces 122hp and 225Nm of torque, while the larger pack increases that to 150hp and 245Nm. Both can be rapid charged from 15-80% in just 30 minutes using 80kW or 100kW DC chargers, and all models come fitted with a heat pump for improved efficiency.
A standout feature is the Micra’s V2L (vehicle-to-load) capability, allowing drivers to power household appliances through a standard 240V socket. Inside, the EV gets a 10.1-inch digital driver display and matching infotainment screen with NissanConnect and Google built-in services, including Google Maps.
Driver assistance systems are extensive, with the Micra offering Nissan ProPilot Assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, lane-keeping aid, blind spot intervention, and more.
This new EV signals the start of Nissan’s wider European electrification strategy. Over the next few years, it plans to launch four more electric vehicles – the Micra, followed by new versions of the Leaf, Juke, and a compact A-segment car – while also expanding e-Power technology to the Qashqai.
