Octopus Fleet launches FleetBoost to cut public EV charging costs

Octopus Fleet has launched FleetBoost, a new scheme designed to reduce public charging costs for businesses operating commercial electric vehicle fleets, with potential savings of up to 30%. That translates to around £730 per vehicle annually.

Available through the Octopus Fleet platform, the scheme gives fleet operators access to discounted charging rates across participating public charging networks, helping to reduce the cost of running electric vehicles and make charging more convenient for drivers.

According to Octopus Fleet, 99% of UK areas are within 14-miles of an eligible charging point, while 95% are within just nine-miles.

MFG EV Power, IONITY and Be.EV are the first three charge point operators to join FleetBoost, providing access to thousands of public chargers across the UK. More operators are expected to join, expanding the scheme’s coverage and potential savings.

It comes as businesses continue to transition from petrol and diesel vehicles to electric alternatives, with charging costs and access to reliable infrastructure remaining key considerations for fleet managers.

The platform also connects drivers to the wider Octopus Electroverse network, which offers access to more than 1.5-million public charge points worldwide across 40 countries.

Matt Davies, founder of Octopus Fleet, said the scheme aimed to make charging more affordable, reliable and accessible for businesses and their drivers.

"By bringing together some of the UK's biggest charging brands, we can help accelerate the transition to commercial EVs and slash the cost of public charging for businesses." Said Davies.

The participating charge point operators also highlighted the importance of affordable public charging in supporting fleet electrification, with the scheme intended to give businesses greater confidence in the cost and availability of charging when drivers are away from their depots or homes.
