Hard Shoulder targets fleet downtime with automated recovery and tyre platform

Hard Shoulder has launched a new vehicle transport, recovery and mobile tyre platform designed to help fleets reduce downtime by automatically matching jobs with the nearest available supplier.

The web and mobile-based platform uses a network of vetted third-party providers, removing the need for fleet teams to contact multiple recovery operators or tyre fitters before arranging assistance.

The launch reflects a growing focus on speeding up the SMR process, an area FleetWise has explored extensively through innovations such as mobile servicing, repair-at-home solutions and automated approval workflows. As fleets look to maximise vehicle availability, reducing delays in arranging recovery and repairs is becoming as important as shortening repair times.

Hard Shoulder says its location-based technology automatically allocates work to the closest qualified provider, helping businesses get vehicles moving again more quickly while avoiding delays caused by suppliers travelling long distances.

CEO Zahra Ahmad said the platform was created to address the frustration of long waits and poor visibility following vehicle breakdowns and collisions, giving fleets "a fast, reliable connection when a vehicle needs to move" without the usual back-and-forth between multiple providers.
