Honda launches eight-year warranty as £19k Super-N prepares for UK arrival

Honda has announced a new eight-year service-activated warranty across its model range as it prepares to launch the all-new Super-N electric city car in the UK this summer.

Available on vehicles registered from June 1, the warranty extends Honda's standard three-year cover by an additional year every time the vehicle is serviced at an authorised Honda retailer, up to eight years or 100,000 miles. The warranty is also transferable between owners, a move that could help strengthen used values.

The announcement comes ahead of the arrival of the Super-N, a compact electric hatchback expected to start from £18,995.

Positioned as a rival to cars such as the Renault 5, Hyundai Inster and BYD Dolphin Surf, the Super-N becomes one of the cheapest electric cars on sale in the UK. Honda says it has been engineered specifically for urban driving, with a 29.6kWh battery delivering up to 128 miles of range, rising to 199 miles in city driving conditions.

While its range is modest compared with larger EVs, the Super-N focuses on affordability, character and practicality. For drivers looking for a compact city car rather than a long-distance cruiser, Honda appears to have learned lessons from the expensive and short-lived Honda e.

Combined with the new warranty package, the Super-N could become an interesting option for cost-conscious drivers looking to make the switch to electric.
