Omoda 9 SHS: flagship, hybrid SUV arrives with standout spec

Omoda 9 SHS

The new Omoda 9 SHS has landed in the UK, bringing an ‘everything as standard’ approach to the D-segment SUV market (think Škoda Kodiaq, Volvo XC60). Priced from £44,990, it undercuts several rivals, while offering luxury-level features, sharp styling and a powerful plug-in hybrid system branded as SHS (Super Hybrid System).

The five-seat SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine (157hp, 215Nm) paired with a 34.46kWh battery and dual motors, producing a combined 449hp and 700Nm. Electric-only range is up to 93 miles, with total range exceeding 700 miles. The 0-62mph sprint is handled in 4.9 seconds, and 30 to 80% charging takes just 20 minutes.

Equipment includes a 24.6-inch curved display, intelligent all-wheel drive, electromagnetic suspension, a 1.3-metre panoramic sunroof, acoustic glass, reclining heated/ventilated seats front and rear, and a 540° camera system. Boot space is a generous 660 litres (1783 litres with seats folded).

There’s just one highly-specced model, the SHS Noble, aimed at drivers who want refinement, practicality and strong performance without a premium price tag. It’s not an EV, but with sub-40g/km emissions and over 40mpg WLTP, it offers serious fleet and family appeal, especially if you live rurally.
