Fleets looking for a Range Rover-style SUV with a full EV powertrain had plenty of choice from other manufacturers. Yet never a Range Rover, or even a Land Rover, itself - until now.
The Range Rover Electric was first teased in late 2023 and has been in long development since. It consists of an 800V architecture and houses two electric motors and a 118.5kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 372-miles (WLTP).
As for charging, when hooked up to a powerful-enough DC cable, it can charge from 10-80% in 22-minutes.
Power is topped at around 550hp and 850Nm of torque. The two motors produce 322hp each, but neither produce full power at the same time.
The design of the Range Rover Electric remains the same. Very few exterior clues indicate that it's the EV variant, meaning it takes a different direction to rivaling German cars, which are often completely new vehicles relative to the internal combustion counterparts.

It's the same story inside, too. The cabin of the Range Rover Electric is more-or-less identical. This is intentional as JLR wanted the new EV to look and feel like a Range Rover that customers already know and love.
One thing that distinguishes a Range Rover from other luxury SUVs is its incontestable off-road capability, and the EV is no different. It's been engineered to wade in depths up to 900mm and climb slopes angling up to 45-degrees. On any surface, it's traction management system can even make responses in 50 milliseconds, which JLR claim is 100-times faster than the combustion equivalent.
Prices start at a staggeringly high £154,000, which is £50,000 more than the base model diesel. That means the Range Rover Electric has been placed in firm competition with cars such as the Porsche Cayenne Electric and Mercedes-Benz G-Glass EV.
For fleets, the Range Rover Electric means that the leading full-size SUV can now be had with low Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax, which couldn't be said for the full-combustion equivalent. It is pricey, although less expensive EVs from JLR are coming, including the Range Rover GT and Range Rover Sport Electric.
