Total Recall? Ermmm… not likely

Over 3.2 million cars and vans recalled for safety issues between 2018 and 2023 were never taken in for repairs, according to new data obtained via a Freedom of Information request.

Auto Data Solutions (ADS) reports that 3,252,696 vehicles went unchecked by franchise dealers, though the true number is likely higher. The figures highlight a major gap in recall follow-ups, often due to weak customer engagement, leaving potentially unsafe vehicles in daily use.

Currently, an outstanding recall is flagged as an advisory on an MOT, but the Government is reportedly considering making it a test failure to improve compliance.
