The latest on AI assistants: Michelin moves in and Alphabet reveals FAQs

Michelin Connected Fleet has become the latest provider to introduce an AI-powered assistant, enabling fleet managers to interrogate live operational data using natural language prompts. Available through the MyConnectedFleet platform, users can quickly identify fuel-efficient drivers, vehicles requiring tyre maintenance or analyse fuel costs without manually creating reports.

Meanwhile, Alphabet has revealed the questions fleet managers ask its AI Assistant most often after 18 months of use across 12 European markets. The most common requests centre on contract information, mileage and fleet composition, with users frequently asking "Which contracts will end in the next six months?", "Give me an overview of powertrains in my fleet" and "How many petrol vehicles are in my fleet?".

Alphabet says customers typically begin with simple information requests before progressing to more complex questions around fleet performance and optimisation as confidence in the technology grows. Since launch, almost 10,000 questions have been asked across its AI Assistant, which responds in less than 10 seconds and has been continuously refined based on customer feedback.

Michelin's own research reflects that momentum, with 78% of fleet managers believing AI will transform the sector. Together, the updates highlight how AI is becoming an increasingly practical tool for reducing administrative workload while helping fleet managers make faster, data-driven decisions.
