Warranty Solutions Group (WSG) has analysed claim rates to determine the most reliable light commercial vehicles (LCVs). Using data from 1000 warranty claims, WSG identified the Renault Master as the most dependable van, with a claim rate of just 4.55%.
To ensure an accurate comparison, WSG excluded any models with fewer than 100 sales across its dealer network. The most common claims for the Renault Master were starter motors (£446.96), AdBlue pumps (£1,210.45), and turbochargers (£1,372.67).
In second place was the Vauxhall Combo Cargo, with a 10.86% claim rate. Its most frequent repairs included AdBlue injectors (£285), turbochargers (£884), and diesel particulate filters (DPFs) (£1,542.20). The Mercedes Sprinter followed in third place with an 11.20% claim rate, with the most common issues being alternators (£444.85), starter motors (£496.58), and NOx sensors (£686.21).

Mark Bobbins, head of commercial vehicle sales at WSG, highlights the importance of LCV reliability for businesses, stating that downtime can severely impact revenue. When vans suffer frequent breakdowns, businesses may have to rent replacements, causing further financial strain. Reliable vehicles help ensure operational efficiency, minimise disruption, and reduce repair costs.
WSG’s warranty claims analysis provides valuable insights into the real-world reliability of commercial vehicles, helping businesses make informed fleet decisions to improve long-term cost-effectiveness and productivity.
