Kia PV5 EV passenger van lands in Europe

Kia’s all-electric PV5 Passenger van has launched in Europe, promising high-tech features, flexibility and a price point that undercuts rivals like the Volkswagen ID. Buzz. Part of Kia’s "Platform Beyond Vehicle" (PBV) lineup, the PV5 is based on a modular platform that supports a variety of future body styles, including taxis, seven-seaters and wheelchair-accessible models.

At 4.7 metres long, the front-wheel-drive PV5 initially launches as a five-seater, available with 51.5 or 71.2 kWh batteries. Prices in Germany start at €38,290, significantly undercutting the ID. Buzz’s €50,000 entry point. With a range of up to 400 km (250 miles) and fast-charging from 10–80% in 30 minutes, it’s aimed at both private and business users.

Standard kit includes a 12.8-inch touchscreen with Android Automotive OS, wireless phone connectivity, dual sliding doors, multiple USB-C ports and a flat-floor cabin. Higher trims add seat heating, a digital key, wireless charging and Vehicle-to-Load functionality.

The PV5 can tow up to 1.5 tonnes, and has a boot capacity of up to 2,300 litres with rear seats folded. Its platform allows rapid expansion: a high-roof cargo version, crew van and multiple seating configurations will follow. Buyers also benefit from a seven-year vehicle and eight-year battery warranty, plus Kia Charge access across 27 countries.
