The government has extended home and workplace chargepoint funding for another year, providing continued support for fleet operators and private EV drivers. The Workplace Charging Scheme will now run until 31 March 2026, allowing businesses, charities, public sector organisations and small accommodation businesses to claim funding for charge point installation.
The scheme covers up to 75% of costs, capped at £350 per socket and 40 sockets per applicant. Since its launch in 2016, the Workplace Charging Scheme has funded nearly 60,000 sockets with a total grant value of £21.8m. In the last 12 months alone, it supported 6565 workplace sockets and 1407 sockets in schools and colleges, with £3.1m in grants.
Lilian Greenwood, Future of Roads Minister, said the scheme is helping to build a practical and reliable charging network to support daily life. The Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Grant has also been extended until March 2026, benefiting landlords, car park owners, and renters. Since its launch in April 2022, it has funded 17,394 sockets, with £13.2m in grants.
Vicky Edmonds, CEO of EVA England, welcomed the extension, urging the government to expand support to more state-funded locations to overcome charging barriers and accelerate EV adoption.
