MG ZS, HG and MG3 updated with revised Hybrid+ powertrain

MG Motor has updated its MG3, ZS and HS model ranges with additional standard equipment and revisions to its Hybrid+ powertrain, though all three models have received price increases as a result.

The updated Hybrid+ system in the cars retain the 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, 1.83kWh battery and three-speed gearbox, but changes to the traction motor and generator are designed to improve refinement, reduce noise and vibration, which MG promises to provide more sustained electric assistance.

Peak output remains at 191bhp, while the MG3 Hybrid+ continues to return a claimed 64.2mpg, which is impressive for a car of its price point.

The MG3 now starts at £17,995 for the petrol SE, while the Hybrid+ SE and Trophy cost £19,995 and £21,995, respectively. The petrol SE gains a new black cloth interior, while the Trophy gets black leather and suede-style upholstery.

For the MG ZS, prices rise by £1,000 across the range, starting at £21,495 for the SE petrol and £23,995 for the SE Hybrid+. SE models gain a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, wireless smartphone charging and new black cloth trim. Trophy versions add a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and black leather/suede-esque upholstery.

The MG HS also increases by £1,000, starting at £27,495 for the petrol SE, £30,495 for the Hybrid+ and £33,495 for the plug-in hybrid. SE models gain heated front seats and steering wheel, wireless charging and a 360-degree camera, while Trophy versions add cooled front seats and an opening panoramic sunroof. The HS PHEV retains its 75-mile (WLTP) electric range.
