Small fleets increasingly need access to big-fleet expertise

The Association of Fleet Professionals is offering 50 funded memberships to smaller fleets through a new initiative backed by FleetCheck.

The 12-month memberships will be awarded to qualifying FleetCheck customers, with the aim of giving smaller operators greater access to fleet training, guidance and professional support.

For SMEs, that support is becoming increasingly valuable. Charging reimbursement, duty of care, vehicle taxation, maintenance compliance and mixed-energy fleet management all require expertise that smaller businesses may not have internally.

Fleet managers and business owners should therefore make greater use of industry guidance rather than allowing informal processes to develop as vehicle numbers grow.

The FleetCheck initiative is relatively small in scale, but the wider lesson is significant: professional fleet management is becoming relevant much earlier in a company’s growth.

A business does not need hundreds of vehicles before poor policy, weak compliance or fragmented administration starts creating unnecessary cost.

For smaller fleets, access to structured expertise can help prevent those problems before they become embedded.
