Stellantis' compensation portal for 'wet-belt' issues

Stellantis is now offering compensation to UK drivers affected by technical faults in certain 1.0- and 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engines found in Citroën, DS Automobiles, Vauxhall and Peugeot models. This follows the earlier launch of a claims portal for some European customers, which has now been extended to the UK.

Eligible claims relate to costs incurred between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2024 due to excessive oil use or premature timing belt failure. To qualify, servicing must have followed the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule and repairs must have been carried out by authorised networks.

Stellantis has already extended the warranty for affected engines, covering 100% of costs up to 10 years or 112,000 miles, depending on conditions. The issue stems from the use of wet belts, a technology intended to improve efficiency, but prone to early wear – especially if the wrong oil is used. Ford has reported similar problems with its EcoBlue diesel engines.
