Stellantis plans 11 new vans, a fresh platform, and a 'box on wheels' concept

Stellantis will launch 11 new commercial vehicles by 2030 as part of a major overhaul of its van line-up, with a focus on flexibility, uptime and lower operating costs.

The programme will introduce new mid-size and large van platforms powered by Stellantis's STLA Brain architecture, supporting electric, hybrid and internal combustion powertrains. The manufacturer says the new generation of vans will target best-in-class payload, cargo capacity and conversion readiness.

For fleets, the bigger story is Stellantis's push beyond simply selling vehicles. Alongside the new vans, the company is expanding its Pro One NEXT ecosystem, which uses connected vehicle data, dedicated command centres and proactive maintenance support to help reduce downtime.

That focus reflects a growing trend across the fleet sector, where uptime is increasingly becoming as important as purchase price. Stellantis says the system enables real-time vehicle monitoring and earlier intervention when issues arise, helping keep vehicles on the road.

The company is also investing in new battery technology, including LFP and NMC batteries, designed to improve both range and affordability across its electric van range.

Looking further ahead, Stellantis will showcase a driverless "Box on Wheels" concept at the IAA Hannover show in September. Designed for last-mile delivery operations, the autonomous electric vehicle is intended to reduce operating costs while supporting future urban logistics networks.

With van operators under pressure to control costs, maximise uptime and prepare for electrification, Stellantis is positioning its next generation of commercial vehicles around the operational challenges fleets are facing today.
