
The UK Government's ZEV Mandate targets have seemed so unpredictable and changeable in recent years, that no-one could be blamed for losing sight of the current aims.
To clear things up (for now), here’s a no-nonsense breakdown of the latest ZEV mandate tweaks, as of April 2025.

Petrol and diesel-only car sales banned from 2030

Full hybrids (like the Prius) and PHEVs allowed until 2035

From 2030, ICE cars must emit 10% less CO₂ than they did in 2021
Vans – Post-2030

No tech changes needed, but they must maintain or cut 2021 CO₂ levels
