Lepas L8 targets fleet favourites with 56-mile electric range

Arriving in September and priced from £34,900, the L8 combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an 18.4kWh battery, delivering up to 56 miles of electric-only driving. That puts it ahead of many mainstream plug-in hybrid rivals for EV range while also securing a 10% benefit-in-kind tax band thanks to CO₂ emissions of just 21g/km.

For fleet operators, the bigger talking point may be value. Even entry-level models come equipped with a panoramic roof, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone connectivity and a 13.2-inch touchscreen.

The £37,900 Elevate trim adds features more commonly associated with premium brands, including heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, a Sony audio system, hands-free tailgate and 540-degree camera system.

Lepas is the latest brand from Chery International, joining stablemates Omoda and Jaecoo in the UK. The L8 shares much of its underlying technology with the Jaecoo 7, a model that has already gained traction in the fleet sector.

Orders open in July, with first customer deliveries expected in September. A fully electric version is due to follow next year.
