London tunnel charges have changed – check fleet systems now

Charges for using the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels changed on 21 September, making this a useful prompt for fleets operating regularly across the Thames to check routing and payment systems.

TfL has published updated tariffs, discounts and exemptions, while Fleet Auto Pay remains available for qualifying business operators.

For fleet managers, small road-user charges can become significant when repeated across multiple vehicles and daily journeys.

The immediate action is to confirm that expense systems, route-planning software and Auto Pay accounts reflect the latest charges.

Businesses should also review whether alternative routes genuinely save money once additional mileage, fuel or electricity and driver time are included.

The cheapest route on paper is not always the lowest-cost fleet journey.

For London and South East operators in particular, road-user charging should increasingly sit inside route-cost modelling rather than being treated as an incidental expense.
