Polestar is now issuing battery health certificates for used Polestar 2 models, showing the useable battery capacity as a percentage. This forms part of a comprehensive 112-point check, aimed at boosting buyer confidence in pre-owned electric vehicles.
The move aligns with growing industry calls, including from the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP), for standardised EV battery health reporting. Auction specialist BCA introduced a similar service in 2023.
Next month, Polestar will open its first dedicated pre-owned showroom in Erdington, Birmingham. This standalone site will focus exclusively on fully inspected and prepared used models, offering buyers the same customer experience as new car purchasers.
Matt Galvin, managing director of Polestar UK, said the initiative provides reassurance, especially for buyers considering older EVs. Each pre-owned car includes a 24-month warranty and benefits from the balance of the original eight-year battery warranty. The Polestar 2 has been on sale since 2020, with multiple upgrades enhancing its range and technology.
