Renault boosts Megane E-Tech range to 310 miles with major EV update

Renault has given the Megane E-Tech a substantial mid-life update, introducing a larger battery, faster charging and a raft of technology upgrades designed to keep the electric hatchback competitive in the growing family EV market.

The headline change is a new 67kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, replacing the previous 60kWh pack. The result is a WLTP range of up to 310 miles, around 20 miles more than before, while also bringing the cost and durability benefits associated with LFP battery technology.

Charging performance has improved too. Maximum DC charging speeds rise from 130kW to 165kW, allowing a 15-80% charge in around 24 minutes, while Renault has also added one-pedal driving for the first time.

Visually, the Megane receives a redesigned front end featuring Renault's latest diamond-inspired lighting signature, a revised grille and updated rear light design. Inside, all versions feature Renault's OpenR infotainment system with Google built-in, while new technology includes driver recognition software that automatically adjusts vehicle settings for individual users.

The range has also been simplified to just two trim levels: Techno and Esprit Alpine.

For fleet drivers, the updated Megane strengthens its position as a practical electric hatchback, combining competitive range, fast charging and a more connected user experience in a compact package that remains easy to live with.
